“Figuring Out Family Finances”

How to Work Through Support Issues in Collaborative Practice and Mediation

Family FinancesSold Out! The Ninth Annual OACP Annual Conference and Training will feature past IACP President and trainer extraordinaire, Catherine Conner.

Date:  Friday, May 17, 2019
Time: Check-in starts at 8:15 a.m.; Program is 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Description: Cash flow issues can be particularly challenging for a divorcing couple when they are making a transition to two households without additional income. The question of support can evoke differing ideas about financial and family responsibilities and trigger emotional and value filled reactions. The practical realities of the change in finances may make it tough to find viable solutions.
This workshop will focus on how to work through family finances when using a consensual dispute resolution model – Collaborative Practice or Mediation. We will examine how to lay the foundation for decision-making, how to educate the parties about the legal and financial standards and rules without closing off creativity, and how to learn about what is important to them so that they can ultimately find the best solution for their family.
