Provides a highly interactive training to become a mediator and to develop better communication skills in conflict situations. Learn to use mediation skills to help resolve conflicts in workplace, court, business or community-related disputes.
You will learn and practice how to: Structure the mediation process through a step-by-step procedure, Increase your effectiveness in listening to and communicating with people in conflict, assist disputants to reach mutually satisfying agreements, enhance negotiation skills-your own and others’, work with strong emotions respectfully and constructively, especially with the disputing parties face to face, manage cross-cultural differences, respond to ethical dilemmas that arise in mediation, develop strategies to deal with various elements of conflict. Attorneys can receive CLEs through Oregon State Bar Association. Coaches are used in classes when there more than 10 attendees.
Trainer: Tsipora Dimant has been a mediator for over 25 years. She is currently mediating workplace, community and business disputes for the Beaverton Dispute Resolution Center. She also provides contracted training.
Dates: Friday/Saturday (3/8 & 3/9) 8:30 – 4:50 pm
Friday/Saturday (3/15 & 3/16) 8:30 – 4:50 pm
(You must attend all four days of the training to receive a completion certificate.)
Location: Portland Community College Climb Center
Tuition: $450, plus fee: $20 (includes the manual)
