March Educational Meeting: DV Survivors Discuss Experiences with Mediation.

Friday, March 17, 12:00-1:30pm

Join OACP’s Virtual Educational Meeting on March 17th from 12pm-1:30pm.

Topic: DV Survivors Discuss Experiences with Mediation.

Join OACP and SCARS of Oregon in a discussion about Survivor Experiences with Mediation. SCARS is a Survivor-run non-profit organization that provides peer support for self-advocacy, healing, education, outreach, and restorative justice.

Host, Rachelle, is the Principal Cofounder of SCARS Oregon. Rachelle is an abuse Survivor who Co-Founded SCARS in 2015. She is a native Oregonian, living in the Portland Metro area. A mom of 5, and single at one point, she is now remarried and happily watching her kids grow into adulthood. After her oldest graduated university, she decided to give college a try again. She began studying full-time at PCC and PSU. Just as she was ready to graduate three years later with her Bachelor’s Degree in Urban & Public Affairs, the pandemic hit. She made the tough decision to put off grad school and make more time for her passion: doing community-building and domestic violence activist work with SCARS Survivors. Considering this is a volunteer position, she also drives for Doordash to contribute to the family income. In January 2023, Rachelle began a start-up business to collaborate with other Survivor Entrepreneurs for DV trauma-informed business mentorship and economic justice—Allied Brands Collective. When Rachelle is not involved in some kind of community work or house project, she enjoys gardening, camping, and spending time with her family.

The panel will also include other anonymous DV survivors sharing experiences.
