St. Andrew Legal Clinic, THE COMMONS LAW PROJECT, & OACP

SLIDING SCALE PROGRAM

Do You Need Affordable Legal Assistance?

Everyone deserves legal assistance, but not everybody can afford it.  The OACP is very excited to launch the Sliding Scale Collaborative Law Project in partnership with St. Andrew Legal Clinic and the Commons Law Center. The hope is to provide Collaborative legal service to all Oregonians regardless of their socio-economic status.

Do I Qualify for the Sliding Scale Program?

The Sliding Scale Collaborative Law Project aims to provide Collaborative legal services to all Oregonians, regardless of their socio-economic status. By adopting a sliding scale fee structure, we can offer high-quality legal assistance to those who might otherwise be unable to afford it. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need during challenging legal situations.

If you make under $3500 per month, you qualify for the sliding scale program.

How Does It Work and How Do I Get Started?

The sliding scale fee system is designed to adjust the cost of legal services based on a client's income and financial capacity. This means that individuals and families with lower incomes will pay reduced fees, making it more affordable to receive the help they need. Our team of experienced Collaborative law professionals is dedicated to working with clients to find solutions that are fair, respectful, and tailored to their unique circumstances.

Before getting started, it might be helpful to answer a few questions to see if you and your spouse can agree to Collaborative divorce.  Here is a sample screening questionnaire.

If you think that Collaborative is the right way to go, the next step is to find a Collaborative Attorney who can assist you with your matter.  Our Member Directory offers a feature to filter out professionals that are currently enrolled in this program.

Get Involved!

If you are a Collaboratively trained professional, are in good standing with your professional licensing organization, and work in the divorce community, we encourage you to join us on our mission to provide equal access to legal services.  This is a great way to give back to the community, get involved, and sharpen your Collaborative skills.

If you are interested in signing up, please complete the Sliding Scale Collaborative Law Project Affirmation Statement for Participants. Completed forms can be emailed to [email protected].

Our Partners

This project would not be possible without the invaluable support of our partners:

  • St. Andrew Legal Clinic: For 44 years, the legal clinic's unwavering commitment has been directed towards empowering and supporting marginalized communities, ensuring their access to essential legal representation. At the heart of our mission lies a fundamental belief: by transforming our clients' lives, we catalyze positive change in the broader community.
  • The Commons Law Center: The Commons Law Center is a nonprofit law firm that provides sliding-scale legal services to modest means Oregonians, those who live below 400% of the federal poverty level. The program serves to bridge the gap in services between those who qualify for legal aid services and those who can comfortably afford a private bar attorney.
